Dragon Fruit Project
In February 2023, DG-Bridge funded a dragon fruit project to help alleviate poverty and promote self-sustenance at Batang Pinangga, an orphan care centre in the Philippines, housing abandoned, abused and neglected children from the streets of Cebu province.
The sustainable project was proposed by employees of Genashtim, a Singapore-based social enterprise, in conjunction with the company’s Sustainable Program for People Impact campaign. The idea was for the centre to plant 60 dragon fruit seedlings at the orphanage’s vegetable farm, from which the fresh produce becomes a potential source of income.
A total of 150,000 pesos was donated to Batang Pinangga to fund the project. The video depicts the current progress of the dragon fruit farm, which is expected to bear fruit in the coming six months (June or July 2024).

Batang Pinangga expresses their appreciation and warmest holiday wishes to everyone.
Sweet Success for Batang Pinangga Orphan Center's Dragon Fruit Project

Back in early 2023, a group of employees from Genashtim Pte Ltd. proposed a project to fund a dragon fruit farm at the Batang Pinangga Orphan Care Center in the Philippines to provide self-sustenance for the care center.
The excited children of the center received the funds and by the year’s end, the project was underway at the orphanage’s vegetable farm. Fast forward to July 2024, and the wait is over! After six months of anticipation, the children are proud to announce their first harvest.
From a series of photos we received from the Batang Pinangga orphan care center, it is evident that the dragon fruit farm has successfully borne fruit. According to the center’s representatives, the children have so far managed to harvest two fruits from the 60 dragon fruit seedlings planted. The photos depict the bright-eyed kids happily savoring the fruits of their labor. Based on their feedback, the fruits were sweet and succulent, validated by their beaming and charming smiles.
DG-Bridge is incredibly proud of the children’s accomplishments! We are excited to see the farm continue to bear more fruits in the coming months and we share in their joy and celebration of this milestone.
